The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, extending over the two provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo province. Access to the reserve is possible by air or road travel.
The GPS coordinates for Enkhulu Gate are -24.349833°S; 31.157201°E and the lodge 24° 21’ 56.4″South 31°15’50.1″East.
Guests can enjoy the luxury of flying into the nearest airport, the Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (30km from Kambaku) direct from Johannesburg or from Cape Town and be collected at the airport and transported to the lodge (not included in the daily rate).
Alternatively, one can fly into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit (120 km from Kambaku) on daily flights. Specially chartered flights can be arranged on request.
From OR Tambo International Airport one heads for eMalahleni (Witbank) on the N12 highway, which becomes the N4. Continue on the N4 and take the Belfast turn-off, heading for Dullstroom and next to Lydenburg.
From Lydenburg one follows the R36 towards Ohrigstad and Hoedspruit, from where you take the R40 south for approximately 6 km before you turn left on the Timbavati / Eastgate Airport road. Pass through a control gate and continue for roughly 18 km to the Timbavati Nature Reserve Gate. Once in the reserve Follow the Kambaku River Sands signs to the lodge.
By Road from Nelspruit, you follow the R40 past White River and continue to Hazyview, Bushbuckridge and Acornhoek past the Orpen road turnoff, until you turn right at the Hoedspruit turn-off. Continue on this road and turn right at the Timbavati/ Eastgate Airport road. You will go through a control gate and then head for the Timbavati Nature Reserve Gate about 18 km further. Once through the reserve gate, you will find the sign board for the lodge approximately 10km further.
